A 2018 Fiat Ducato came to Kiwi French Automotive in Slacks Creek with a concerning pedal issue—the pedal was travelling all the way to the floor.

Our technicians carried out an initial inspection and identified the master cylinder as requiring replacement. Once replaced, the issue was resolved and the vehicle was returned to the customer.

However, the Ducato later returned with the same concern. With the vehicle back in the workshop, our team completed further diagnosis to find the underlying cause. This time, the fault was traced to the slave cylinder, which is housed within the gearbox.

Because of its location, replacing the slave cylinder requires gearbox removal and is a more involved repair. Identifying the source of a hydraulic issue can sometimes take more than one stage of diagnosis, particularly where several components within the system may be contributing to the symptom.
